Long Range Telephoto

The new SX1600 is a lens-integrated long-range camera system that supports the 1.1” effective image size and boasts double the focal length range of SX800, covering the wide angle 40mm to the world’s longest 1600mm telephoto. Up to 2x digital zoom can be applied additionally to reach the focal length equivalent to 3200mm. This allows capturing a registration plate on a car at about 1.6km away or even a person standing approx. 3.5km away.

Newly Developed Image Stabilization System

The SX1600 is equipped with a newly developed image stabilization system that enables cooperative control of optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS) to accurately correct image shakes. The angle of correction has been expanded by up to 1.5x compared to the SX800 so that the camera can be used with peace of mind even for long-range shooting where large shakes are likely to occur due to platform vibrations and winds. A high-performance gyro-sensor is used to detect minute vibrations without a time lag for accurate compensation.

The high-sensitivity sensor and high noise reduction effect enable you to shoot clear images with little noise even in low-light shooting environments.

Another notable feature of the SX1600 is its fast and accurate autofocus system. With a focus speed of just 0.1 seconds, the camera can quickly lock onto the subject and capture it with stunning clarity. This is particularly important for surveillance applications, where speed and accuracy are essential for identifying potential security threats.

Heat Haze and Fog Reduction
The SX1600 also boasts excellent heat haze and fog reduction functions, which help to ensure that images remain clear and sharp even in adverse weather conditions. This is particularly important for applications such as airport or port surveillance, where visibility can be compromised by fog or other weather conditions.

Image processing technology compensates for heat haze caused by temperature differences in the air as well as fog caused by water droplets and dust floating in the air. This helps mitigate these atmospheric conditions to help achieve clearer images. The built-in visible cut filter "black glass" makes it possible to shoot with near-infrared light that travels in a straight line so you can achieve better images in the most challenging environments.
